WHEN I was offered the chance to try Special Event Glow - a seven day treatment billed as the answer to noticeably luminous skin, I jumped at the chance. When else would I get the opportunity to use a £90 treatment?!
And the product certainly looked the part - seven dainty phials of amber coloured nectar. The idea behind the Haute Custom Beauty product is to apply a different elixir each night, a week before a special event.
"Think wedding, anniversary, birthday, starting a new job, school reunion – times when perfect, glowing skin is a must," sings the box.
Night one and I can't wait to try it. It certainly felt good and was quickly absorbed into my skin.
I went to bed, eager to see if there was any change the next morning.
I got up and looked in the mirror. Hmmm. Nothing yet but it is (very) early days.
And so the ritual continued over the next five days.
Every night I carefully applied it, every morning I checked to see if there was any difference.
To be honest, by the time it got to night seven, I forgot to apply the final phial and it's still lurking in the back of my bathroom cabinet.
The kindest thing I could say about this product was that it felt silky smooth to apply but there was no discernible change in my skin after using it for nearly a week.
And at £90?! I wouldn't pay £9.
A disappointing two stars.
