Edgy New York-style burger joint Smashburger has finally opened its doors in Glasgow amid much anticipation.

As one of the fastest-growing restaurant concepts in the US, Sauchiehall Street has been abuzz this week as it now houses the first Scottish branch - and fifth in the UK - following a grand launch on Wednesday afternoon.

Bringing a slice of New York’s cool meatpacking district to the streets of Glasgow, the eatery is split over two floors and has a bold industrial look with exposed brick, hanging pendant lights, and urban typography.

Established just ten years ago in Denver, Colorado, Smashburger has quickly become famous for its secret “smash” - a unique method of hand-formed beef meatballs that are then smashed onto a hot buttered grill, searing in the juices and flavour, producing a burger “unlike any other.”
