Glasgow is home to another cool, new restaurant.

Burgers Dogs n Beers has set up shop in the Merchant City as of today.

In a surprise announcement, the John Street eatery said it is inviting hungry Glaswegians to tuck into a gourmet burger or jumbo loaded hotdog for just £1 when they buy a drink on their first day.

The new team say they have created a “fresh and exciting” American-themed menu featuring handmade beef or chicken fillet burgers and jumbo hot dogs with plenty of homemade toppings.

In what is becoming an extremely competitive gourmet burger scene in Glasgow, the Merchant City venue insisted it can stand out from the competition because of its fresh ingredients and almost two dozen choice of sauces from around the world.

The venue - which is part of the plush Italian Centre - will be open until 1am this Friday and Saturday.

Customers who wish to get involved in the opening day £1 burger/dog promotion can show up at any time on Friday, November 10 and buy a drink.

The opening comes as bars and restaurants around the city continue to shut up shop amid a tough trading climate.

In the past few months alone, the city has said goodbye to Danny Singhs, Chinatown Restaurant, Waverley Tea Room, and Amber Restaurant, just to name a few.

Just yesterday, popular West End bar West on the Corner revealed it is to close up.

The gourmet burger hegemony first started to fold in Glasgow in July when popular chain Handmade Burger Co collapsed into administration with many job losses across the board.
