A popular Glasgow bar is giving away free beer to customers for today only.

Hoping to convert the masses into craft beer lovers, BrewDog is inviting the city to “break from the shackles of mass-produced beer” with a free taste of its new brew.

To take part, beer fans have to invite their friends by tagging them on BrewDog’s social media channels using the hashtag #DrinkIndie before midnight on Thursday (today).

Both parties will then receive a free half-pint of Indie Pale Ale at any BrewDog bar upon showing bar staff proof of the post on their phones.

The craft beer maker has two venues in the city; one in Argyle Street and the other in the Merchant City.

James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, described how Indie Pale Ale will “mark the craft beer awakening” of thousands of people who have yet to discover independent craft beer.

He said: “This is for everyone who thinks they don’t like beer, for those who’ve been bamboozled by mega breweries insisting beer is just fizzy, yellow lager, for those too shy to ask for something different.

“This labour of love has been months in the making, but it was worth the wait.”
