I WAS beginning to wonder what all the fuss was about, after trying one of the newest products from make-up artist to the stars Charlotte Tilbury.

Grazia columnist Polly Vernon and celebrated beauty journalist Sali Hughes had both raved about the highlighter, so hopes were high is the would have the same effect as the 'beauty filter' on my phone.

It comes in a variety of shades and is designed to be used as a primer or highlighter, promising to illuminate skin and smooth out lines and pores.

I tried it mixed in with my regular foundation and strategically placed on top but wasn't blown away by the results. I have far, cheaper highlighters which give more impressive results.

However, the product really comes into its own when used alone, on top of moisturiser, giving a noticeably healthy and age-defying sheen. So much so I'm happy to skip foundation.

Charlotte Tilbury, Hollywood Flawless Filter, £30, is available from House of Fraser in Glasgow.
