FITNESS fanatics have set the world record for the number of people taking part in a new exercise class.
A total of 623 people took part in the high intensity tabata workout at the Emirates Arena, last night.
The class - which lasts just four minutes - involves short, sharp bursts of exercise.
People from across the West of Scotland gathered for the event to celebrate the launch of the programme in Glasgow Club facilities.
Radio DJ Dianne Knox Campbell, aka Knoxy from Clyde 1, is a member of Glasgow Club and took part.
Alan Wilson, 31, from Dumbarton, was part of the record breaking class.
He said: "I work in the city centre and I enjoy exercising three or four times a week so I decided to give tabata a go.
"I'd never been to the Emirates Arena before either, so this was a great opportunity to get involved in a sport event in a Commonwealth Games venue.
"It was pretty surreal working out in the one area with so many people. But there was a great atmosphere and everyone really went for it when the four-minute tabata session kicked off."
