JOGGERS in Glasgow who have gym memberships will be running up a cheaper monthly bill thanks to a new deal.

The Glasgow Club has made it even easier for people in Glasgow to take up one of the most popular forms of exercise.

It has added the popular running network to the range of activities members can qualify for with an unlimited membership.

Members normally pay an added subscription of around £74.14 for the network with monthly direct debit and pay as you go options available.

It comes months after bootcamp and power plate sessions were added to the membership.

The deal is a major boost for the Evening Times' Active 2014 campaign, which aims to improve the health of Scots in the year of the Commonwealth Games and build a lasting legacy of physical wellbeing.

Working with partners Glasgow Life and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde we'll be creating opportunities for individuals, communities and businesses to get active as we bid to improve the health of as many people as possible in the community.

The running network has around 21 morning and evening running classes across Glasgow at fitness centres including Scotstoun, Bellahouston and Tollcross.

Joggers who have paid for a running network membership, will notice a saving on their monthly bill as no further payments will be taken.

The network offers mixed coach-led sessions starting at three miles with cut-off options for those who want a shorter distance.

Councillor Archie Graham, Chairman of Glasgow Life, said: "We are delighted to announce that our weewkly running network sessions are now included as part of our Glasgow Club Fitness Unlimited membership.

"With Glasgow Club membership at an all time high of more than 34,000 members this is yet another great incentive to be a part of the biggest gym network in Scotland."

The network also offers courses aimed at preparing joggers for the Women's 10k, which is taking place on May 11 and the Great Scottish Run which will be held on October 5.
