What do Michelle Obama and Victoria Beckham have in common?
They are great examples of power dressing - 2015 style.
Long gone are the days of shoulder pads but the art of dressing to impress is still very much alive and kicking.
For the modern day career woman, dressing with a purpose is now easier than ever with stores offering a wide range of statement pieces to suit a variety of styles and shapes. The Evening Times visited Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries to find some chic work-wear to get you through the summer in style.
Power dressing in 2015 is all about exuding confidence in the clothes you're in.
It's often easy to get sucked in to a uniform of all black so this summer why not experiment with bold prints and bright colours and get noticed for the right reasons.
Tailoring and fit is key to making this look work and stores including Mango, John Lewis and Next have a great range of separates that wouldn't look out of place in the wardrobes of TV's biggest power dressers - Scandal's Olivia Pope and The Good Wife's Alicia Florrick.
Here's a pick of some of the best summer pieces:
Mango
Visual merchandiser at Mango, Buchanan Galleries, Claire Bingham thinks women should be more adventurous when buying clothes for work:
She said: "This season there is a lot of colour and bold prints hitting the stores which is transferring into the work wardrobe.
"It's important to remember that black isn't the only colour that works in the office, printed trousers and a crisp white shirt or a matching trouser suit are always a great way of looking sophisticated and smart while being on trend."
"This season we're seeing a lot of pieces reflecting the 60s and 70s from fringing to flares. High-waisted palazzo pants can look really smart without being boring and are the perfect way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe. A tailored suit jacket is also a must in any work wardrobe. It's the perfect piece that can transform almost any look from casual to smart."
"Accessories are often a forgotten aspect of career dressing but adding the correct pieces is a great way to dress up what would be a boring outfit. A tan handbag is a brilliant work staple as it will go with almost any outfit. A trench coat is the perfect way to finish off any business-look. This season we have a lot of great options including a relaxed trench coat with a wrap belt available in pale blue or navy."
