AS SHE watched TV coverage of William and Kate leaving hospital with their new daughter, Laura Morrow noted with a smile that the royal car seat cover that baby Charlotte nestled in was available to buy in her Paisley baby shop.

What she didn't realise was that as one of the few UK stockists of the cover, made by Spanish brand Pasito a Pasito, Casa Bebe would soon be inundated with orders for the item from all over the world.

"It went absolutely mental on Twitter and Facebook," she laughs.

"Netmums and lots of baby magazines were contacting me, then when I arrived back in the shop after the bank holiday weekend the phone was ringing off the hook.

"When I put the cover on Facebook it got 75,000 hits."

The pastel seat cover with satin bows - which comes in a £91 - was soon sold out at Casa Bebe, though Laura stresses it is now back in stock for Scotland's own little princes and princesses.

Casa Bebe - which means baby home in Spanish - stocks a full range of baby furniture, clothes and accessories.

The royal baby cover only reiterated to Laura that her choice of products, which are mostly Spanish in design, was on the right lines.

"I'd always loved Spanish baby clothes and accessories - the design and the colours were so different to what was available here," says the entrepreneur, who set up the business three years ago.

"A few years ago I tried to get some baby furniture shipped to Scotland from Spain and couldn't - it was then that I knew there would be a market.

"Then I got the finance to make a go of it."

Just six months after opening, the shop had to shut for a month due to a fire in a neighbouring building, but since then the business has gone "from strength to strength", growing in stature both at the Paisley base and online, where customer orders come from as far afield as Hong Kong, the US and Sweden.

Lisa, who previously worked in banking, thinks this success is down to the personal service small businesses like hers are able to offer.

"I bend over backwards for my customers," she says.

"Our service is more personal and our products are more unique. And since the launch of our new website last summer we've seen a massive increase in orders. I think part of that is also down to things like baby showers, which came from America.

People want lovely things for their baby and they are willing to spend more than ever before."

But Laura is keen to point out that Casa Bebe isn't just down to her - it's a family affair, with husband Derek and their nine-year-old daughter Kirstie also involved.

"Kirstie has been a real inspiration behind the shop," she says.

"And she loves helping me out. We're a real family business.

"Hopefully one day we'll be a global brand - that's my dream."
