GETTING ready for summer can be tricky enough at the best of times but when you're in front of television cameras every day there is no place to hide.

The beauty experts at Debenhams, Silverburn, treated STV Glasgow's Riverside Show presenter Jennifer Reoch to some treatments in preparation for the sun coming out.

The 25-year-old former Miss Scotland presents the live show every weekday evening and as it's a low-budget local channel she has to be her own stylist and makeup artist.

"When I was Miss Scotland I got a lot of makeup tips and I've just about worked out how to make myself presentable but it's always nice when someone who knows what they're doing does it for me. It really makes a difference," she says in the Clarins treatment room after getting a body scrub, moisturiser and fake tan application.

"I'm not particularly good at self tanning and I wear tights in the winter so I'm very aware that it is summer now and I'm still wearing black tights so I need to get the tanner on and the legs out which is quite a daunting prospect, especially when you have got lights on you in the studio and you can't get away with blemishes.

"It's important to make sure you're taking care of yourself and that will show."

Other treatments of offer at the south side store include Benito Brow Bar eyelash extensions and brow threading and tinting; Benefit brow wax and tint as well as summer holiday makeovers from all of the in store beauty brands including Bare Minerals, Bobbi Brown, Dior, Urban Decay, Clinique and MAC. Appointments can be booked for treatments in the beauty room.

Estee Lauder showcased their new Bronze Goddess collection to Jennifer, which is perfect for days at the beach and long summer nights. The range includes eyeshadow palettes, nail varnishes and lip glosses in shimmering nudes, golds and bronzes as well as the iconic summer fragrance Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche Skinscent.

"It's always nice to be reminded about exfoliating and moisturising because I don't think I'm as good as it as I should be. Sometimes my tan is a bit streaky so professional help is always useful," says Jennifer, who graduated from the University of Glasgow with a law degree before working in television.

"Using lighter make-up is important in summer as well. It's all about being bronzed and a bit more natural.

"I don't put to much makeup on and I don't tend to use blusher either, usually bronzer. Go with what is comfortable for your face. I know what works for me."

Brows and lashes are big trends for summer 2015 and Stephanie Togneri-Alexander, health and beauty manager at Debenhams, Silverburn, recommends lash extensions at the store's Benito Brow Bar as they last the lifetime of your own lashes and are perfect for holidays when you don't want to worry about mascara.

She also suggests anyone nervous about applying self tan should try the new Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster. A made-to-measure self tan, it couldn't be easier to use.

"Add three to six drops to your body moisturiser, build it up and add more for a deeper tan," she suggests.

"It's foolproof - you can see the colour when you drop it into white moisturiser which makes it really easy to use. And you won't get that fake tan smell as Clarins products are made from plant extracts."
