TOP Scottish beauty brand Arran Aromatics is making the journey south to spread the word about its range of best-selling products.

It has won the contract to supply a hand-picked collection of toiletries for passengers on the new Caledonian Sleeper train service.

Travellers can unwind with a complementary range of products, including a hair and body wash, pillow spray and hand and body lotion fragranced with relaxing lavender and chamomile.

"It's a very important deal for us. I think the tender process started more than three years ago," says Andrew Russell, brand director at Arran Aromatics.

"I it gets the brand recognised the length and breadth of the UK."

Crafted and hand-finished on the Isle of Arran, the exclusive toiletries are the latest feature in Serco's plans to transform the Caledonian Sleeper service into an exemplary hospitality offering representative of Scotland's finest.

Based on the Isle of Arran, the toiletries supplier already works with a portfolio of luxury hospitality clients, including Macdonald Hotels and Cameron House on the banks of Loch Lomond.

South of the Border it has previously worked with big names including Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Abode hotels but this new deal is the highest profile positioning yet from the top to the bottom of the UK.

"We worked very closely with the team at the Sleeper on the kit, looking to give everyone an experience whether they were sitting in Standard seats or First Class. We were trying to give everyone the essentials they would need," adds Andrew.

"We were working to create something that would give people a unique experience. The sleep spray in particular was developed over a period of time and we may develop that at Arran Aromatics at some point, such is the popularity of it."

Arran Aromatics was set up in 1989 by husband and wife Janet and Iain Russell in the kitchen of their cottage on Arran.

The modest range of soaps and body creams infused with original fragrances inspired by the island's landscape.

Over the years it has grown to include an apothecary range, home fragrance, the Feel Good Formulas skincare collection and products for babies.

A fleet of new carriages will be introduced in the Caledonian Sleeper n 2018 which include a range of new features: ensuite berths, pod flatbeds, used for the first time in rail, and a brasserie-style Club Car.
