IT has been one of the best-kept secrets in the world of interiors for the past eight years but now the word is out about Dwell.

With the opening of a new shop at London Road Furniture Park in Tollcross, the furniture retailer launches its first concept store.

"It has a new layout and look. We will have nearly everything we sell on display," says Christopher Hunter, manager of the brand's Princes Square branch, who has now taken over at Tollcross.

"There has been a lot of work on the look of this store. It will still look like a Dwell store but it is an evolution."

He believes the new branch, with links to the motorway and easy parking, will attract loyal customers who also shop in the city centre store as well as newcomers.

"I think we will see a completely different customer from Princes Square - they might not have heard of Dwell," he says.

"In many ways we have been open in Glasgow for eight years and are still a secret. A lot of people have never heard of us. This is a chance to increase our customer base rather than take away from Princes Square."

The company mission has always been to make updating homes a pleasure. Set up in 2003 by Aamir Ahmad, there are four other branches in England.

For those in the know, its appeal is its particular style – 90% of products are designed in-house, with UK exclusivity on many lines.

The opening of Tollcross now allows customers who buy online to collect their shopping in store.

"Glaswegians have a strong design heritage, a great eye for contemporary interiors and are savvy when it comes to a bargain, so we're confident they will appreciate what Dwell has to offer," says Aamir.

"Our Princes Square store is already our most successful in the UK and we know from our catalogue and online channels that we have a lot of Scottish customers, so it made sense for us to invest further in the region.

"We hope to continue our expansion in Scotland in the near future."

For new season style tips, Aamir recommends if you are looking to update your living room, choose a dark sofa that can be easily accessorised with bright pops of colour, such as the Dwell Faro sofa, £999.

Then mix mustard and muted grey patterned cushions to inject a bit of contemporary style to your lounge.

Alternatively, if your stylishly dark room needs of a bit of life, add a splash of colour and style with a brightly coloured chair, such as the Dwell incline rocker chair in mustard, £249.

If you are looking for ideas to store books, think about Dwell's Escala ladder shelf, £149.
