Ask Numba Pinkerton what it means to be stylish and she will tell you that it’s primarily about one thing: confidence. And if anyone should know, it’s Numba, a successful catwalk and magazine model who has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion.

The 28-year-old from Glasgow believes that anyone can become more stylish and confident - it’s just a matter of learning what suits your body shape and personality.

And the young entrepreneur now spends much of her time advising both women and men on how to make the best of what they’ve got, with her successful one-to-one personal styling business, Style Me Flawless.

“It’s all about teaching people the skills to help them look their best,” says Numba, who moved to Scotland from Zambia as a teenager. “Colour is a big part of that – it’s at the base of good style and I help give people the confidence to look at colour differently.

“We also look at their wardrobe, their hair and make-up, and see how we can make the most of what they’ve got by truly reflecting their personality and their lifestyle – that’s what style is really all about.”

A finance and management graduate, Numba is thoroughly enjoying running her own successful business.

“I love the fact that when you own your own business you can be creative and change and tweak things as you see fit,” she says. “But for me the best thing of all that I’m helping people. I love to see them leaving our consultations with a smile on their face. I get a real sense of satisfaction knowing that I’ve made a difference to their lives.”

Numba is currently working on expanding her brand nationally and internationally to work with people on improving their body confidence, and hopes to launch a digital resource in the spring.

She’s also keen to promote Glasgow and Scotland on the international stage.

“Glasgow is such a stylish place and the people are so friendly and easy going,” she smiles. “But I think we could be doing more to create an environment where creative people can stay here rather than thinking they have to move to London. It’s getting better, but as Scots we should to be more confident.”
