One thing has become bitingly clear over the last few nights… baby, it’s cold outside.
We all know how important it is to wrap up when we’re out an about, but staying warm and cosy at home is just as important.
The Scottish Government’s Home Energy Scotland campaign aims to help us think about how to keep warm indoors without just cranking up the central heating. After all, turning your thermostat down by one degree can cut your energy bill by up to 8%.
With this in mind, we’ve teamed up with Buchanan Galleries for some top tips on how to beat the chill indoors.
Chunky knits
There’s nothing better than getting wrapped in super soft materials for settling down for a night in. Go for heavy duty and long sleeved to make give you all the warmth you need.
Fake the fur
Nothing cries winter weather like faux fur. And it’s so much better than turning the heating up. We love the little touches on winter pieces from Monsoon and River Island that are super stylish for shopping on a Saturday or a getting snug on a Sunday night in.
Layer it up
It’s what your granny always told you to do – and she’s right. Go for heavy wool and cashmere sweaters or knitted socks and flannel bottoms. Invest in thermal underwear to get that snug feeling all over. Pick autumnal colours such as reds, greens and golds to get you into the seasonal mood. Try Gap or H&M – both of whom have a selection of great value polo necks.
Bedroom essentials
Don’t dive into a bed feeling chilly. Opt for long pyjamas and furry slippers. These Next pyjamas are perfect for Saturday lie-ins or lazy afternoons on the sofa. For ultimate cosiness purchase a full length dressing gown too.
