Since it was launched in 2013, Scottish Ballet’s official tartan has been a huge hit with the dancers and fans of the company alike - with the warm scarves and stoles particularly popular at this time of year.

And now the beautiful purple, grey and gold fabric, which is designed and produced by luxury fabric-maker Lochcarron of Scotland, will adorn a whole new range of products - including a wool cape, thick wool stole and wool throw – just in time for Christmas.

With this in mind, Scottish Ballet dancers Araminta Wraith and Evan Loudon were delighted to take a break from rehearsals from the company’s forthcoming Christmas show, Cinderella, to wrap up warm and show off the new range.

The tartan collaboration began when Scottish Ballet was preparing to perform Highland Fling, a ballet by Matthew Bourne.

Scottish Ballet’s wardrobe department worked with Lochcarron of Scotland on costumes for the show, leading to the creation of an exclusive tartan especially for the company. The products in the range are all designed, made and manufactured in Scotland and are sold through Scottish Ballet’s website and at performances.

Lochcarron of Scotland is one of the country’s most successful weaving mills and has provided fabrics for some of the world’s leading labels including Ralph Lauren and Vivienne Westwood.

Scottish Ballet’s upcoming winter production of Cinderella, choreographed by the company’s artistic director Christopher Hampson, is at the Theatre Royal Glasgow from 12 – 16 January 2016.
