They are floral, feminine and fabulous. And they work well on all body shapes. With this in mind, let’s welcome back the tea dress this season.

Actress Dakota Johnson showed how to make the look work for winter this month, wearing a fake fur coat and knee-high boots with a cute tea dress while out and about in chilly New York.

And although the How To Be Single star’s dress was a designer number, you don’t have to splash the cash to get the look. This season we’ll be seeing tea dresses all over the high street – and even in the supermarkets. Both George at Asda and Primark have gorgeous styles for under £15, while those with a bigger budget won't want to miss Laura Ashley's new range, with dresses from £90.

The other good news is that these vintage-style dresses are fabulously flexible – they’re great for drinking afternoon tea in, but it’s not a must! So, whether you’re looking to add one in to your work wardrobe, jazz up your weekend wear or glam up for the evening, there are plenty of options.

For a chic but boho daytime look, team your dress with some flat ankle boots, thick tights and a cardigan. And the evening transformation is easy – some sheer tights, strappy sandals and a sparkly necklace will take you easily into evening.
