Paloma Faith loves to surprise people with her approach to fashion – and when she hit the red carpet for the Elle Style Awards at London’s Tate Britain, there was no exception.

The singer wore an Armani Prive feathered top in black, turquoise and purple – complete with padded shoulders – alongside velvet trousers.

She explained: “‘She’s arrived!’ was the sentence that I said to my stylist. He was like: ‘What do you want to look like?’ And I was like, I want them to say: ‘She’s arrived’.”

The Upside Down singer, who is a judge on The Voice UK, said that it was up to the contestants to make the most of their success on the show.

She said: “I think the show has multiple stars this year, but I think it’s really important that people realise that to make a star, it’s not just about a voice.

“So going on from the competition afterwards, it’s all about work ethic, song-writing and commitment. And that’s up to them.”

She added: “I’m really excited about the live shows. I can’t wait for people to see what I’m doing, and who with, and I’m waiting for the inevitable abuse on Twitter when they all realise who I’ve put through.”
