After Stephen Fry joked about her looking like a “bag lady” at the Baftas, there was no way Mad Max: Fury Road costume designer Jenny Beavan would arrive at the Oscars in a ball gown.
But when she walked down the aisle to collect her Oscar, the cameras caught her fellow film industry guests looking quite startled at her outfit.
Obsessed with all these famous people on the aisle refusing to clap for an #oscars winner. https://t.co/ideciyQNuh

Jenny wore a black leather jacket with crystals on the back, as well as a stripy scarf – and this seemed to catch the interest of The Revenant director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Spotlight director Tom McCarthy.
Tom covered his face with his hands, while Alejandro kept his hands firmly crossed while the audience applauded.

Were they shocked? Were they being rude? Or were they simply all clapped-out by that point? Either way – given Jenny’s defiant attitude – she probably doesn’t care.
