GLASGOW'S Style Mile has been boosted by another major store and retail experts say the scoop is helping to highlight the city's profile as a global shopping destination.

International brand Massimo Dutti unveils a new flagship store on Buchanan Street today - its first in Scotland.

Bosses said 30 new jobs will be created with the opening of the store, which takes up two floors and 650 sq ft of shopping space at 71-77 Buchanan Street.

The new Glasgow shop will sell men and women's wear and accessories and offers personal tailoring services.

Tessa Hartmann, founder of the Scottish Fashion Awards, said the brand is a major coup for the city and local economy as the retail industry fights back against a difficult economic climate.

Massimo Dutti is part of company which owns Zara it and originated in Spain.

The brand's latest Spring Summer 2016 collection was photographed by renowned photographer Mario Testino.

The whole collection will be on sale at the new Glasgow store.

Ms Hartmann said: "When on of the biggest fashion groups in the world makes such a significant investment in Scotland's high street with a two storey flagship store, it's excellent news for the consumer, good news for our local economy and a positive sign that Scotland is open for business with luxury fashion houses.

"Retail sales figures in Scotland have been low over the past few years, with local retailers having to work harder and be more creative in order to maintain and grow in a period of structural, economic and significant regulatory change in Scotland.

"When it's as challenging as it is right now for Scottish retail, it's even more important that brands like Massimo Dutti, part of the Inditex Group, are investing in our local economy and indeed providing a wonderful shopper experience in their new concept opulent store."

She added: "But it's not just good business news for the city, it's what Massimo Dutti are doing for Glasgow's profile by putting it on their global retail map.

"With over 666 stores around the world, our fine city is in good company and will sit alongside some of the world's most stylish cities within Massimo Dutti's international marketing activities.

"That, complemented with some of the most coveted collections of the season, makes for exciting times for Glasgow."
