Kendall Jenner has been revealed as the cover star for the September issue of the US edition of Vogue magazine.

The reality TV star-turned-supermodel said that the cover made her “cry” and that it was “the coolest thing ever” as she shared it on her Instagram page.

Kendall, 20, also thanked Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour for giving her the “honour” of appearing on the prestigious annual issue.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star’s cover was photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, who have previously shot the likes of singers Lady Gaga and Rihanna for the publication.

In the accompanying interview, Kendall spoke of her desire to be a supermodel “for a long time” after her rise to fame as a reality TV personality and revealed who she aspired to be like.

She said: “Not that I won’t venture out and do other things, but I want this to be like a Cindy Crawford thing: I want it to last until I am her age.

“That’s why I love her so much and why I look up to her. Her life now is something that I want my life to be like.”

In April 2014, Jenner’s half-sister Kim Kardashian appeared on the cover of Vogue along with Kanye West ahead of their wedding.

The September issue of the magazine is widely considered the year’s biggest and most important, as it details the fashion for the coming autumn/winter season.

In 2009, a documentary film called The September Issue gave a behind the scenes look as Anna and the magazine’s creative director Grace Coddington working together on the 2007 edition.

Previous Vogue September issue cover stars include Beyonce, Kate Moss and Jennifer Lawrence.
