Verdict: Five stars of the perfect tan

THE best way to banish the winter blues is to have a spray tan. You instantly feel a million times better with some colour - and it also makes you look even more glamorous on your festive nights out.

I am a big fake tan fan and I have tried every product under the sun. I have had more spray and luxury tans than I can count so I consider myself an expert in this field.

I recently visited Fake Bake tanning expert Jennifer Peffer at 123 West Regent Street in the heart of the city centre.

Jennifer, who is also a make-up artist, was responsible for giving me the perfect glow that I have as I write this.

On arrival, Jennifer went through all the usual tips and advised to remove any perfume or deodorant with baby wipes.

She then gave me sticky feet, paper pants and moisturiser to prepare problem tan areas including the back of the heels, knees and elbows.

Once I was ready, the spraying process started. Now if you have had a spray tan, you will know that you stand in the weirdest positions. What I noticed about Jennifer, however, was she asked me to stand in certain positions I have not during other spray tans - and the result was 100 per cent coverage.

I also opted for the Fake Bake darker tan with signature drops which costs £25. I have always loved Fake Bake as a product and I on occasion by it over the counter. But I find that with my tan I have to apply it a few times to get the dark result I want. This time, however, I woke up feeling great about the colour and I could see a real difference.

Jennifer as a tanning expert also made me feel extremely comfortable and had extensive product knowledge. She is the type of person you would trust for the big occasions and you know that you are in safe hands with.

My tan takes anything up to six hours to develop but I left it overnight.
