They are not on commission and there is no hard sell to buy pricy combinations of moisturisers, serums and eye creams to get a free lipstick in a colour that probably won't suit you.

Just good, honest advice from people who are passionate about all the ranges.

Why has no-one ever thought of this before?

The beauty hall at the Silverburn branch opened in summer and cult products from niche brands have been flying off the shelves since.

It's a delight for all the senses.

"It's relaxed and not at all intimidating," says Your Beauty manager, Anne McLeish. "The girls go through a lot of training and have an in-depth knowledge of all the products."

Some of its best-sellers are familiar, others are brands sold exclusively in the UK at Marks & Spencer, including top US and French pharmacy favourites.

Apivita is a European top natural skin and hair care range from the honey of Greek bees. The natural serums are concentrated and don't just smell amazing, but give fabulous results.

French favourite Filorga Time Filler comes from a firm that first produced peels and filler injections. One of the most asked-about products in the store, the moisturiser has been described as Botox in a bottle.

The clean, natural fragrance of h2O Plus Face Oasis Hydration Treatment means it is popular with men and women. A gel formulation, the non-oily moisturiser sinks into skin to combat fine lines.

Your Beauty assistant Natalie Murray says: "You can put make-up on top and it will stay in place. Alternatively, use it as a quick 10-minute mask."

A caffeine injection to wake up tired eyes, pop Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Gel on for a few minutes to depuff and erase fine lines.

"This is one of those best-kept secrets, used a lot backstage on television and at red carpet events," says Your Beauty assistant Katy Gordon. "A lot of women put them in their handbag to use on a long flight."

A new brand in the UK but widely used at Milan Fashion Week, Diego Dalla Palma Transformista is that wonder of the beauty world, a buildable mascara that doesn't clump or run.

The Leighton Denny nail collection needs no introduction. High performance products that are long- lasting and chip resistant, there are colours exclusive to Marks & Spencer as well as the famed Supermodel shade.

A mask, a cleanser and the perfect product to pack a punch if skin needs a lift before a night out, Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energising Mask lives up to its reputation.

"As soon as this launched and we were paid this is the first thing we all bought," laughs Katy. "It is the only mask that delivers oxygen and vitamin C into the skin within five minutes."

Must-have dry oil Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse sells every six seconds around the world and is much loved by actress Gwyneth Paltrow. For the face, your body and hair, it has a high concentration of natural oils and smells like summer in a bottle.

A classic hair tamer is Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, created for Audrey Hepburn nearly 40 years ago. A moisture injection into the hair to make it healthier and put the bounce back, it can also be used as an overnight treatment.

Calm and soothe stressed skin with REN Hydracalm Day Cream, which is even suitable for vegans.

The store also has a fragrance section as well as bath and body products, including favourite Marks & Spencer ranges.
