THERE'S a new buzz word in the fashion world ...

and it means the opposite of glamorous.

Dressing 'normcore' is the phrase on everyone's lips, and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

This is about normal dressing - from investing in a flattering pair of jeans and a sturdy pair of flat shoes to buying an unassuming trench coat or a cosy knit.

It's not about embellishment or over-the-top outfits, it's about making a subtle statement.

The high street has embraced this trend. Gap and White Stuff are good places to start.

But so have the style editors of the world, who have been photographed wearing flat shoes on the front row of fashion shows - something that would have been unheard of in previous years.

Look out for well-made clothes and good, natural materials. Try investing in a few key pieces instead of buying cheaper clothes in bulk.

For now, fast fashion is out and dressing normal is in.
