AS every cool cat knows, Finnieston is now officially the most vibrant quarter of our city.

Apart from the many gems tucked away down The Hidden Lane, there are cocktails at The Kelvingrove Cafe; any number of interesting arts happenings at the SWG3 venue; and even the simple sarnie has been taken to greater heights by the people at Argyle Street's Piece.

One of the latest additions to the area is Fallon Carberry and her team at the BLOW hair salon, who are bringing effervescent sparkle tempered with a sprinkle of grunge glamour, topped with a smidge of gloss.

Already a firm fixture with the city's style and fashion blogging community, every Sunday in the run up to Christmas they are giving you even more reason to close the lid on your online shopping baskets and avoid the sharpened elbows of the festive hoards bustling into the city centre, and head out West.

Their aim is to bring together the best in independent beauty and fashion under one roof for a series of events in the countdown to Christmas.

From in-demand nail artists to the cream of Scottish design talents, they hope to offer the best in Christmas gift ideas.

The festive fun kicks off on December 7, with Finnieston Fly Gal.

There, nail artist Lianne Clarke, of Swoon Nails, will bring glittery talons to the first festive pop-up event.

Lianne said: "I'm a massive fan of BLOW and I can't wait to join them for their Christmas.

"I'm looking forward to getting claws Christmas-ready with some Calgel Sparkle just in time for Santa."

Also launching is BLOW's XXXPress Bar, to get you truly into the party season swing with fast fashion locks in 20 minutes for £20.

Think outside the box, with embellishments including glitter roots, chains sewn through plaits and coloured hair stencils - this is a truly contemporary take on party hair trends.

The festive frolics continue the following Sunday, with Sadia Nadeem from temporary tattoo firm Heenatastic.

Queen Bey, Gwen Stefani and RiRi are already mega fans of the custom design work.

Heenatastic has a cult following and aims to create an army of intricately painted women with her temporary tattoo works.

The pop-up events peak on Sunday, December 21, with an independent designer pop-up.

By that point, relying on the Royal Mail or Amazon to gather in your gifts will no longer an option, and if the idea of braving town is too scary to mention, so why not take the opportunity to shop for an unusual gift from one of Scotland's award winning young designers?

Already on board are jeweller Georgina Wiseman, hosiery queens Bebaroque, nail art by DIY Nails and knitted goodies from Wonkie Woolies, not to mention fresh, locally roasted and ground coffee via the baristas from Dear Green Coffee Roasters.

Georgina is especially enthusiastic about the event.

She said: "Finnieston is my old stomping ground from my 'past' party life, (pre bairns), so I'm pretty excited to be back in the 'hood' and selling my jewellery alongside such wicked brands.

"I'm definitely going to be doing my last minute Christmas shopping there."

Something makes me think she won't be the only one.

The problem will be which event to choose, or do you make it a regular date in the December diary to get you through a hectic party season in the most stylish way possible?

BLOW, 1060 Argyle Street, Glasgow.
