THEY are used to running around on a muddy field where looking good is the last thing on their mind.

But three Glasgow Warriors stars swapped the rugby pitch for a high-end fashion store to take part in a shoot for the Evening Times.

The players tried out some spring/summer trends at House of Fraser Glasgow, which is proud sponsors of the team.

Daniel Tailliferrer Hauman van der Merwe -better known as DTH -sampled a laid-back style, which included smart trousers and a blazer. The 29-year-old from South Africa joined the Warriors in March 2011, but he is set to leave the team in the summer to join Welsh club The Scarlets.

DTH, above right, is wearing Enfield trousers (£55, now £38.50) and Clavendon blazer (£135, now £108), both Linea Limited Edition, and an Ecru shirt, £45, Linea.

All the looks were styled by House of Fraser personal shopper Emma Chicharella who offered them tips on how to jazz up their wardrobes.

Emma said: "A lighter coloured suit is the ideal go to for summer occasions, particularly summer weddings which can be hard to nail."

Warriors player Richie Vernon enjoyed a brief spell of the Glasgow sunshine to show off his spring/summer outfit.

The 27-year-old from Dundee, above left, is wearing the Linea Marco T-shirt, £20, Howick pink fleet linen shirt, £49, and Stanio trousers, £129, Hugo Boss.

Emma said: "Layering is a great option for unpredictable weather and an open shirt keeps a relaxed vibe while still looking on trend for the spring/summer season."

Meanwhile, Peter Horne, above centre, swapped his rugby shorts for a pair of tailored shorts.

The 25-year-old from Kirkcaldy is wearing flat front shorts, £45, lemon jumper, £95, and capri shirt £80, all from Gant, with Dune boat shoes at £69.

Emma said: "Don't be afraid to use a splash of colour to inject some spring summer vibes into your wardrobe.

"Even if the weather isn't playing ball, adding a summer bright such as lemon can instantly make you feel more summery."
