RACHEL LOXTON asked five staff who work in the converted Victorian courtyard to share their wardrobe and shopping secrets …

MEGAN KELLY, 21, Part-time bar worker, Beer Cafe

"My style is vibrant and I love sparkle. I always overdress on occasions, I am never underdressed. I like things that are bold and different.

"I like high street stores such as Topshop and River Island, but I do go to Primark. I also go to charity shops, such as Barnardo's in Merchant City and in the West End, because you can find the odd bargain.

"The last thing I bought was a Tiffany's necklace. It is a plain silver love heart, which I bought on holiday in New York.

"I bought a new pair of red leather look skinny trousers while I was there, too. Glasgow style is classic. I am always asking people where they got their shoes or dresses from.

"The X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger always looks perfect on the show. She does not wear anything that she does not suit."

STYLE SECRET: "Be confident in what you wear, do not ask anybody's opinion because if you feel comfortable that is all that matters."

SHE IS WEARING: Jacket, £10, Primark; dress, £70, Topshop; belt, £5, Primark; necklace, £12, Topshop; shoes, £150, Kurt Geiger; bracelet, Thomas Sabo; bag (belongs to sister), River Island.

JENNIFER MORRISON, 40, Operations manager, Merchant Square

"My style is classic and I try and dress to suit my shape. I love stripes and classic colours. I try to be smart but not too fancy.

"In Glasgow I shop in Whistles, Zara, Reiss and Mint Velvet is good for my age group. I recently bought a navy long suit jacket with a black leather trim from Whistles that I am getting a lot of use of.

"The Merchant City is very Glasgow glam, but there is a real mix of people and age groups. Everyone likes to get dressed up but you do see a lot of different styles.

"Actress Thandie Newton always looks good and I think model Olivia Palermo is immaculate. They have classic styles and wear clean lines."

STYLE SECRET: "Dress for your shape. Fitted clothes look better than baggier clothes."

SHE IS WEARING: dress, £160, Whistles; shoes, about £70; Nine West; plain handmade silver bangle, Stella and Stokes; rest of jewellery, gifts.

JEMMA BENSON, 23, Assistant manager,

Boudoir

"I would describe my style as quite casual, but I like to add accessories to dress it up. I like high street shops and try to go for something a bit different, like a big scarf.

"I like Zara because you can get formal things downstairs then you can go upstairs for the casual range. Topshop is always a winner and Urban Outfitters is good for getting different accessories.

"I always go for jewellery in River Island and I get a wee bargain in Primark now and again.

"The last thing I bought was this skort (skirt/shorts). I would wear this for the weekend with tights during the winter.

"I have a pair of leather look trousers from Zara that I can wear for all occasions.

"There are so many different styles in Glasgow. You see people following the big trends.

"I really like singer Mollie King from the The Saturdays because she always looks great."

STYLE SECRET:

"Wear a good moisturiser, such as Olay, and remember your hair is part of your outfit so think about how it is styled."

SHE IS WEARING: top, £28, Topshop; necklace, £12, River Island; skort, £25, Zara; tights, £10, Joy; boots, £15, Primark; earrings, £3.50, Forever 21; bracelets, gifts.

LOUISE McCABE, 26, Acting manager, Metropolitan

"I go for comfortable clothes. I wear lots of jeans, baggy T-shirts and boots. In Glasgow I shop at American Apparel, I like its dresses and skirts, and I also go to Topshop.

"The last things I bought were a pair of blue shoes from Topshop and a dress to go with it from American Apparel for the Scottish Licensed Trade Awards.

"There are so many styles in Glasgow. Working in Merchant Square I see people wearing things I would be uncomfortable in, but they look great.

"I would like to be more confident and wear something different. I have seen a lot of long winter coats in electric colours, which I would not be brave enough to wear.

"I admire the style of people such as model Alexa Chung, who is a wee bit of a tomboy."

STYLE SECRET:

"Accessorise to make your outfit individual. I use a scarf to change my outfit."

SHE IS WEARING: Top, £25, River Island; scarf, Mr Ben's; necklace, £10, River Island; jeans, £40, Topshop; boots, gift; bracelet, Miss Selfridge.

MAGDA DYBUL, 26, Manager, Boudoir

"My style is different every day, it all depends on how I want to express myself. I like maxi dresses and at the same time I like glamorous styles. It is all about different shapes of dresses and accessories I can add to make it look different.

"I like high street shops, from River Island, H&M and Topshop, to Coast and Phase Eight.

"I often buy stuff when I am abroad on holiday. I also recently bought a very long black dress, with snake print, from a website. I buy things I think look different.

"Style is varied in Glasgow. People are into art or business, it is a big city so you can find every single different style.

"I do not have any person whose style I follow - it's all to do with me mixing."

STYLE SECRET: "Don't copy anybody, don't listen to people and just be yourself."

SHE IS WEARING: Dress and bag, from River Island.
