FRAGRANT cardamom in Moroccan cooking, night flowering jasmine in Greece and the scent of acacia trees in Australia: these are just some of the favourite things that have inspired the latest work of Charlotte Stockdale.

The style editor of Jo Malone London has recalled her much-loved travel memories in the brand's new My Wanderlust collection, featuring a candle, linen spray, home diffuser, square scent and soaps.

They are perfect for travel junkies and beauty addicts alike.

"Scent makes you want to explore a place or reminds you very distinctly of where you have been," she explains.

"Like music, it not only reminds you where, but when you've been there too. It takes you back to a time in your life. Or it can be something that makes you want to go somewhere new."

Charlotte used to drive to Greece from Britain every summer on a motorbike with her brother and the strong scents en route made her fall in love with travel.

"I learned that countries have their own smells. Those trips were the start of a real passion for scent for me," she says.

Her first memory of aroma in an unknown place was getting off the plane in Corfu at night where everything smelled deliciously different.

Even when Charlotte travels today, especially to places as far flung as India and Japan, she says she still experiences that wonderful sniff of a completely new world.

The acacia and honey fragrance in the Deluxe Soap takes Charlotte back to Australia, where some of her family live.

"I have seen acacia in Sydney. It's the most beautiful place and the scent instantly takes me to being on a boat in the harbour in the sun," remembers Charlotte.

"There's a warm vibrancy in Australia that I really love and I think similarly acacia is a really warm, vibrant tree that encapsulates the country. Acacia is life-giving, the seed pods were traditionally eaten in the Bush for protein. I love the wildness of this place, it's so untamed."

The cardamom and Moroccan rose in the Deluxe Candle transports Charlotte to the foothills of the Atlas mountains when she was working on a magazine shoot in winter; wild roses grew outside the house and the warming spice flavoured dishes every evening from the kitchen.

The most unusual product in the range is the Box Hedge Square Scent offering the clean, green scent of a newly clipped hedge in a British garden. Perfect for packing if you are travelling, it scents a hotel room without the need to light a candle.

Night jasmine and oregano fragrance the Linen Spray and Travel Bag, the ultimate reminder for Charlotte of family holidays in Corfu.

"The night jasmine scent is totally linked to my childhood, we spent every Easter and summer on the island and you see this plant everywhere; on balconies, wild, in pots in villages and towns. It grows all over the old town in particular so you get hit by it if you walk down the cobbled streets at night," she says.

"Oregano grows on the hillsides there too. You find it in trails along the ground and I remember stepping on it as a child, crushing it just a little bit so the scent was released. It's very special to me. I love that scent."

The classic Jo Malone London fragrance of lime, basil and mandarin is recreated in a Deluxe Diffuser to leave you dreaming of balmy nights in the Caribbean.

Now instead of a travel candle, Charlotte says she packs the Box Hedge Square Scent and puts it out in my room as soon as she arrives.

"I also take Linen Spray, I really like my room to smell. I put all my toiletries out and run a bath with Red Roses Bath Oil and it brings my world back into the hotel room."
