PRIMARK'S new autumn/winter 2014 menswear campaign hits a high note with an exclusive collaboration with Harris Tweed.

The Adventure Awaits collection is centred on the prestigious fabric weavers.

Every piece in the Harris Tweed collection is governed and guaranteed by the 'Guardians of the Orb' to ensure the highest quality and standards from start to finish.

This quality ensures Harris Tweed is always in demand from high-end international brands such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Paul Smith and most famously and frequently with Vivienne Westwood.

It has also featured in collaborations with mega brands such as Nike and high street style-led brands such as Topman.

Primark's four-piece collection is made in the same way as it has been for many years.

Pure virgin wool is dyed and spun on the islands of the Outer Hebrides.

Every piece is unique and handcrafted by one of only 130 weavers in their own homes using skills passed down from generation to generation.

A spokesman for Primark said: "Our exclusive collaboration with the prestigious fabric weavers from Harris Tweed illustrates how far Primark's menswear has advanced and evolved in recent years.

"The capsule collection offers high quality, timeless pieces and its accessible price points allow everyone to own a classic suit that will last for years to come.

"These timeless pieces are not only natural and sustainable, but ethical too, in that Harris Tweed supports a whole community through its indigenous properties."

The jacket, waistcoat and trousers are cut to a slim fit, marrying a modern silhouette to the ultimate in heritage fabrics.

The designs are only available in their flagship stores in the UK and across Europe and are another timely reminder of the continuing appeal of heritage fabrics and, indeed, the rustic romance of the hills and glens which serve as inspiration.

You can certainly see why Scotland is so appealing too, as winter is a time for layering up looks, so in addition to the Harris Tweed pieces there are some other stand out pieces such as chunky knits and textured tweeds which are dying to be snapped against the backdrop of a dry stone wall, lumber pile or heather strewn hill.

Mix them up with sharp selvedge jeans, boots and work wear inspired pieces and the look translates just as easily to a more urban environment.
