Credited with breathing new life into the venerable but ailing tailors Norton & Sons of Savile Row in 2005, when he was only 33, he is also well known as one of the judges on The Great British Sewing Bee.

Norton & Sons was established in 1821 and provided suits for the royal households, presidents and film stars like Cary Grant and politicians, most famously Winston Churchill.

Despite having no formal training in tailoring (he trained in the fields of science and engineering), but his passion and eye is evenly matched by the skills of the esteemed tailors sewers and cutters, and together they have steadily grown the business without ever losing sight of its famous heritage.

In 2009, he re-launched E Tautz & Sons as a ready to wear label and then turned his attention to Hammond & Co. for Debenhams, taking inspiration from the London sporting tailor founded by Robert Hammond in 1776, which counted British and European royalty as clients.

Originally only available in 20 stores nationwide, for his third collection which is much more widely available he returns with just what you would expect, beautifully cut blazers and waistcoats, quilted gilets, classic Macs and highlight of the range - a beautiful blue wool overcoat, aptly named 'Victory'.

He is overjoyed with the success of the range so far.

He said: "The response to Hammond & Co so far has been phenomenal, as a proud Scot it's fantastic to see the range available now in more Scottish stores than ever before.

"Going into my third season for Hammond & Co at Debenhams, I wanted to ensure we evolved the collection but retained its classic British aesthetic which our customers love.

"For me good quality tailoring is a must in any man's wardrobe but for AW14 we have done it with a twist, for example in the form of an exquisite midnight blue tuxedo complete with velvet loafers, surely the perfect look for the party season."

Ahead of festivities though we have the winter months to contend with when knitwear becomes a must-have and Hammond & Co provides warm autumnal shades such as mustard and tomato red, with thick cable knit cardigans, bird print jumpers and Fair Isle grandad tank tops to the fore, bringing character to the urban man's wardrobe and reflecting trends seen across the menswear catwalks.

A brand new addition to the collection this season is 'Sportshall', a small edit of leisurewear including striped Henley tops, jogging bottoms and a knitted bomber jacket.

Commenting on the unprecedented success of Grant's range, Julian Fuller, head of menswear design at Debenhams is fulsome in his praise of the brand.

He said: "As Debenhams gets ready to celebrate 21 Years of Designers at Debenhams it's only fitting that we are rolling out our most successful menswear collection to date into more stores nationwide.

"Patrick's third collection for Debenhams combines style and quality with affordability and is reflective of what we saw on the AW14 catwalks.

"This Hammond & Co collection is designed with the modern gentleman in mind and includes several stand-out pieces including the quintessential tailored 2-piece grey check suit cut entirely from British cloth through to a classic, timeless blue Mac."

It's yet another sign that Debenhams' suiting continues to go from strength to strength and for the very best in contemporary tailoring at affordable price points Hammond & Co is proving hard to beat, with this season's offering more than ever displaying the ultimate in modern gentlemanly attire.

Ranging from £14 for a chic pocket square to £299 for a beautifully cut suit, Patrick Grant's Hammond & Co collection is available at Debenhams Silverburn and East Kilbride in addition to the existing range at the Argyle Street store from September. Also available online at www.debenhams.com
