HERE is some news we can all applaud - a new collection of bags from designer Todd Lynn for Edition Womanswear at Debenhams.

Across eight key styles, Todd manages to strikes a balance between beautiful investment pieces in the most luxurious of leathers, while keeping prices realistic.

It enables fashion conscious customers to acquire an IT bag from one of the most sought after designers showing at London Fashion Week.

Even better news is that they come in at a fraction of the price you might have expecedt to pay, keeping in mind the quality of the materials involved and the calibre of the designs.

The collection also signals Debenhams' continuing commitment to collaborating with the hottest new LFW names.

This important extension of Todd's Edition Womenswear range only reinforces their fashion credentials by bringing exciting 'new generation' designers into the Designers at Debenhams fold.

They compliment the stable of British designers they have been investing in for the past 20 years, a point reiterated by Susie Calvert, Trading Director of Women's Accessories and Lingerie at Debenhams.

She said: "With his initial womenswear collection already proving a great hit with customers, the introduction of Todd Lynn's handbag collection is a delightful addition.

"The fashion forward designer collaborations are a key focus for Debenhams, and we remain committed to their success.

"Our designer ranges transcend the gap between bespoke and off-the-peg clothing and accessories, and enable customers to buy high quality, designer items at high street prices.

"The varied yet focused designer offering means that customers can shop established industry names such as Jasper Conran, Betty Jackson and Matthew Williamson alongside aspirational and exciting new designers, such as Todd Lynn, Jonathan Saunders and Preen."

Todd, who has dressed music legends including U2, The Rolling Stones, Beyoncé and The Klaxons in his signature androgynous design style, brings elements of sartorial rebellion and a luxe grunge ethos to pieces in a range of designs.

They are all in a muted palette of gunmetal grey, olive green, rusted tomato red and inky blacks, and the designer is clearly enthralled by the collaboration.

As he said: "My womenswear collection, introduced last year, has proven a big success with the strong-minded Edition customer.

"I am thrilled to be able to grow my offering into a handbag collection, taking inspiration from signature pieces in my collection and adapting them for a customer who knows style and fashion.

"We appeal to the woman who has an awareness of trends but doesn't necessarily follow them -she sets them."

The collection is modelled by upcoming British model/singer and DJ Leah Weller - daughter of The Modfather Paul Weller and Dee C. Lee, former backing singer with Wham! and The Style Council.

Eve Robertson, senior PR manager for Debenhams only had praise for the young model.

She said: "Leah Weller's innate sense of style and rock and roll heritage made her the perfect choice for our Todd Lynn handbags shoot.

"Her personality and fashion choices wholly embody the fearless sprit of the collection."
