AN UPMARKET bar is being launched in a city shopping centre.
Buchanan Galleries will become the first mall in Glasgow to have a champagne bar.
Drinks chain, 360 Champagne and Cocktails, is getting ready to open later this summer – and bosses say they chose their new location to be in the middle of the city's Style Mile.
The company already operates a number of bars in shopping centres across the UK, including Braehead, and is keen to replicate its success in Glasgow.
Its first bar opened in the Trafford Centre, in Manchester, in 2011.
The Glasgow bar, with white marble counter and cream padded bar stools, will be on the first floor of the Buchanan Galleries.
The location was chosen because of the impressive overhead glass atrium and natural light.
The new letting has been welcomed by centre owners Buchanan Partnership – a joint venture between Land Securities and Henderson Global Investors.
Katherine Armstead, Land Securities' senior portfolio manager for Scotland, said: "This is an exciting addition to Buchanan Galleries, which adds another aspect to the shopping experience."
The bar is expected to be launched in the next two months, and it will open until 6pm every day, 8pm on Thursday.
Craig Ince, managing director of 360 Champagne and Cocktails, said: "We hope to create a venue where shoppers can relax and really feel special."
