Simply splendid: 10 places to taste... sausages

This week it's all about the sausage!

Yelp's first feature on square sausage had an assortment of butchers and roll shops and this week we're bringing you some more flash dining options!

Arisaig, 1 Merchant Square, Merchant City, G1 1NY

Lisa G recommends "the smoked brie in oatmeal followed by venison sausages in an ale and berry sauce finished with cream crannachan". Vegetarians don't need to miss out either, with veggie sausages served with sweet potato wedges and roast tomato sauce.

Athena Greek Tavern, 99 Hope Street, Glasgow City Centre, G2 6LL

Soutzoukakia is spicy Greek lamb sausage, slow cooked in a tomato sauce with garlic and herbs. Served with roast potatoes and rice, Marj C was so impressed that "next time I'll be taking my boyfriend to try the sausage".

Gusto & Relish, 730 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow South Side, G41 2AA

Liz K wanted to try the sausages, as "they make their own". She says, "it was really nice - the sausages had a little spice to them, which I always love". Try them as part of the big breakfast or on a roll.

Jack McPhee's, 261 Hope Street, Glasgow City Centre, G2 3PS

Angela B rates the fried breakfast as "very good". "Everything was cooked perfect & with a fried breakfast made outside your own home this can be a rare thing. The sausage was particularly tasty - a nice big chippy style sausage!"

Lupe Pintos Deli, 313 Great Western Road, Glasgow West End, G4 9HR

This "funky little shop" with a "smattering of foods from across the pond" is where Devin M gets her "big chorizo sausages, which are always fresh and taste great".

Martha's, 142A St Vincent Street, Glasgow City Centre, G2 5LQ

"Places like this are few and far between in Glasgow, there really should be more like it!" says Leanne R. Hot breakfast rolls are available until 10.30am with Cairnhill Farm Lorne sausage the star!

Old Salty's, 1126 Argyle Street, Finnieston, G3 8TD

Sampling the "smoked sausage supper" Graeme H says it's great having tried it both "battered" and "in the nip". 'They are doing decent non-standard stuff like scallops in curry sauce and chicken schnitzel" to set them apart from a standard chip shop.

Vespbar, 14 Drury Street, Glasgow City Centre, G2 5AA

"I could have eaten mine five times over" declares Lauren C. "I'd decided on the sausage picante and there were gloriously big lumps of pork dotted merrily around a mega thin margarita base with just the tiniest hint of chilli through it."

The Wee Guy's Café Deli, 51 Cochrane Street, Glasgow City Centre, G1 1HL

The full breakfast comes with two varieties of sausage - square and links, and sausage is also available in a roll! Ryan W loved that the roll was "crispy and fresh".

West Brewery, Templeton Building, Glasgow Green, G40 1DA

Sausages abound on the menu at this German influenced brewery. Options range from Bavarian garlic sausage to Currywurst, or as part of the weekend full cooked breakfast!
