Mall bosses have announced three new restaurants ahead of the spring opening of their £20million expansion, which will create around 500 jobs.

The Glasgow shopping centre has already attracted a new 14-screen cinema and five other restaurants.

And today the South Side mall confirmed the names of another three eateries.

The Chimichanga chain which specialises in traditional Mexican food has chosen Silverburn for its first Glasgow restaurant.

The chain is known for its range of burritos and fajitas as well as grills, tapas and salads.

The only other Chimichanga outlet in Scotland is in Edinburgh.

It is being joined by Florida-based Burger King, the global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, as well as Pret A Manger.

The London-based gourmet ready-to-eat food chain is opening a cafe in the Winter Garden which will form the heart of the new extension.

All three eateries will begin trading before the end of the year and join an impressive line-up of new restaurants opening their doors at the mall.

They include TGI Fridays, Carluccio's, Zizzi, Pizza Express and Glasgow's first Cosmo's restaurant.

All eight will be hoping to cash in from shoppers visiting the South Side mall, as well as movie fans attending the new Cine-world cinema complex.

Silverburn general manager David Pierotti is delighted deals have been done with another three eateries and is especially delighted that the mall will be the first in the city to host Chimichanga.

He said: "It is brilliant news that Chimichanga has chosen Silverburn to launch their brand in Glasgow.

"Their fiesta spirit and delicious menu will be a fantastic addition not just for the mall but for Scotland as a whole.

"We are incredibly proud of all of our latest signings and are delighted that the new development is providing our customers with an unrivalled dining offering.

"There really is some-thing for everyone."

His comments come as the extension takes shape.

The £20m expansion is being billed as a leisure development which will cover 100,000sq ft.

Half of the development will be taken up by the 14-screen multiplex.
