I HAD been working on case that had gained me a bit of notoriety.

The horn was blowing constantly with the press wanting to know how I solved this one, I felt like a bit of a celebrity.

I decided to treat toots to somewhere a little upmarket, somewhere where the guys and dolls from silver screen go.

“Oh the girls have been going on about this place Tec, it’s where all the celebrities go," Toots beamed.

She rattled, "Actors, singers, TV people.

“I heard that fella from the spooky TV show was even in there"

“You know the show with the aliens and UFOs.”

I looked at her puzzled for second.

“You know the show,” she continued.

“It has the girl with the gorgeous red hair and she’s a doctor, and we never know if they are dating each other.”

“The X-Files?” I questioned, as suddenly it clicked.

“Yeah, that’s the one. And the fella, what’s his name again?”

“David Duchovny,” I smugly replied.

“Yes, him! He’s so handsome,” Toots fluttered.

I wasn’t too impressed with that comment from the doll, but I have to admit I was intrigued to go to a place where the high fliers went.

We arrived at Kcal Kitchen without booking a table, and the dame in charge quickly showed us to our seats.

The restaurant was small, bright and had the feel of summer, not a bad feeling when the dark nights are drawing in.

I quickly realised scanning the menu Kcal Kitchen was all healthy food. The sort of stuff you expect from your Hollywood A listers on their gluten free, high protein, no fat diets. No wonder so many of them eat here.

“Do they fry anything here?” I begged toots.

“I knew you would have something to say Tec. This is all healthy food. It’s good for you. Look how handsome that alien TV guy is.”

I bit my tongue at that comment again and decided to go with the flow.

To start, I had the chicken BBQ pizza and sweet potato fries.

Toots opted for the Tofu sweet potato bowl.

Both meals were delicious, filling and tasted like fast food but were packed with goodness.

The attentive dame was very helpful, constantly checking if we wanted more drinks or needed help.

I felt like an A-lister, I can see why the ‘handsome’ actor would go here.

For dessert, I opted for protein waffles and ice cream, and toots went for the carrot cake.

Both were delicious and healthy. It felt like I was having something that tasted naughty but was good for you.

All the dishes at the restaurant tell you the calories. So if you are watching your waistline, you can monitor what you are having.

There is gluten free options for those guys and dolls who have allergies.

After dessert, we couldn’t move.

I decided to let my food digest, and I had a look around the joint to see if I could spot anymore celebs.

“Looks like I am the only famous one here today,” I teased toots.

“Yeah shame about that, I was hoping to bump into that Duchovny fella, we would have made a great picture.

“I got all dressed up for nothing.”

I rolled my eyes, paid the cheque and dragged toots out the door, I don’t want her getting any fancies ideas about handsome celebrity actors.
