An exciting arts and culture festival will be returning to Glasgow later this month.
Journey To The East (JTTE), which centres on East Asian artists and art forms, will make its way to the city from September 22 to September 30.

Bringing the local community together with international visiting artists, the festival will serve up a range of performance art, contemporary dance, panels and discussions, film, and music from the likes of Japanese DJ ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, influential performance artist Matt Mullican (MOMA, New York, and Tate Modern), and Taiwanese live artist River Lin.
With a weekend of live performances at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Tramway and a week-long residency at French Street, the festival will ultimately see a celebration of queer artists of colour claiming space on the Scottish stage.
JTTE artistic director, Jian Yi, said: “The name of the festival is based on Herman Hesse’s novel of the same title, igniting a renewed interest around creative practices inspired by Eastern arts and spirituality - but also representing a journey in a metaphorical (or metaphysical) sense that explores different territories of the human psyche and society.
"We are interested in finding different models of cultural curation that come from artists’ lived experience and reflect current experimental practice with a focus on amplifying the voices of artists of colour, and as an artist-led grassroots project we create a space for diverse audiences in Scotland to engage in collective experiences of ritual and community.”
