THIS multi-storey building will be instantly recognisable for thousands of readers.
It is Centre 1 in East Kilbride and, as is always the case in that town, there is a roundabout nearby.
Centre 1 was the headquarters of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, better known as the tax office.
People might not have wanted to go or call there, but  plenty of other places in East Kilbride are worthy of a visit.
Having been designated as Scotland’s first new town on May 6, 1947, East Kilbride has earned a reputation for its shopping facilities.
The shopping centre has six different malls, all built at different times, with some being complete builds from scratch and others having been streets that had shops and then roofs added.
Centre West, finished in 2003,  is the newest area and stands on the ground of what used to be the Centre 1 building.
The others are The Olympia, which has also recently been refurbished, The Plaza,  Prince’s Mall,  Prince’s Square and Southgate.
And we haven’t even started yet on the roundabouts...
