These are the faces of the Glasgow soldiers who were awarded the highest honour for putting their lives on the line during World War I.

A remarkable new book commemorates all of those who earned the Victoria Cross, Britain's highest military award for valour, from 1914 to 1918 and many of the 628 recipients were Scottish.

Many hailed from Glasgow and the surrounding area - and all of their stories bear witness to astonishing bravery and selflessness. 

Today, on the eve of Armistice Day, we pay tribute to them all.
