Memories: Glasgow baton twirlers in 1989
These young baton twirlers were pupils at Quarry Brae primary school in Glasgow in 1989. Six-year-olds Lisa Allan and Mary Gallacher were joined by Ian Burns and James Campbell, both 7, for the show.
If you think the scale of this ship looks awesome, you’d be right. Under construction at the Linthouse shipyard of Alexander Stephen and Sons of Glasgow, in 1962, it was weeks away from being launched as the British Bombardier, the biggest merchant vessel ever launched from the south bank of the Clyde.
