AN international photographic exhibition next month will highlight the decline and regeneration of shipyards in Govan and Gdansk in Poland.

Academics at the University of the West of Scotland are helping curate and organise the event which features photographers from Scotland, Poland, England and France.

Some of the stunning black and white images on display show workers on the yards and ordinary life, such as children playing football and on swings, against the backdrop of Govan’s giant cranes.

The exhibition explores various approaches to waterfront regeneration in cities in northern Europe following the collapse of the ship building industry.

A series of events are being held alongside the exhibition which runs from June 4 until July 31. They include a symposium at Paisley Campus on June 3 and talks by artists at Street Level Photoworks in Trongate on June 4.
