THE brightly painted stanchions of these empty swings provide the perfect frame for this picture of childhood innocence.
With no swings to play on (we suspect some big boys broke them and then ran away) these wee ones, complete with a baby in a buggy, have decided to have a kickabout in the deserted playground.
The park, in the shadow on the cranes of Govan's Fairfield's Yard, had seen better days in 1974. The fancy ironwork was probably already around 100 years old, and may well have come from the Saracen Foundry, in Possil.
Even though we always seem to remember our childhoods as being drenched in sunshine, looking at this picture, it's nice to know that, sometimes, our memories don't play trick on us.
