THE Coliseum Cinema, in Laurieston, was the place to be in 1931 if you wanted to catch Charlie Chaplin's latest big screen smash, City Lights.
Fans of the Little Tramp queued down Eglinton Street and around the block as the picture house showed back to back screenings of the film.
Built as a music hall, the Coliseum opened its doors in 1905. It started showing films full time around 1925, and it was the venue for Glasgow's first showing of a talking picture, in January 1929.
In 1963, it was all change again as the venue was converted to become Scotland's first - and only - Cinerama theatre.
It later operated as a County Bingo hall.
It partially burnt down in 2009 and later had to be demolished.
