GLASGOW'S George Square has had an eventful and colourful history.
From plans being pulled on a £15million square revamp in 2012, being home to 'Big G' during the Commonwealth Games and last week being the focal point for the independence referendum, it is used to being in the news.
In today's trip down memory lane we go all the way back to 1939.
It was the annual Hogmanay party and Glaswegians had gathered to celebrate The Bells.
And even in 1939, with war declared, nothing could stops crowds from pouring into the city centre to wish each other a Happy New Year.
Back then there was no organised outdoor entertainment, just happy chatter, group singing and some al fresco drinking to keep the cold at bay.
