IT WAS all go at Glasgow's Springfield Quay in the early 1970s as these men helped load supplies aboard the Motor Vessel Lochdunvegan.
The ship, a David MacBrayne line freighter, made regular trips to and from Glasgow and the Western Isles, carrying everything from food and building supplies to animal feed and electrical goods.
Apart from one picture, and the fact that she was built in 1946, we can find nothing in any online archive to tell us who built the ship or in which year the freight service ended.
If you'd told these guys, working by the Kingston Bridge, that one day there would be a casino and cinema at Springfield Quay they would have laughed.
Today, the islanders' needs are met by road and then ship from Oban, Ullapool and Mallaig.
