IS this perhaps a very early example of what the art experts call an 'installation?

Twin brothers Robert and Peter Perritt may look as though they are decorating an extremely small flat, but they were both talented artists from Rutherglen, who won scholarships to the famous Glasgow School of Art in the 1950s.

The work they are creating here formed part of the exhibition for their final year.

Robert remained an artist, and Peter went on to enjoy success as a textile designer, known for his geometric patterns.
