THE world beneath Glasgow's feet is almost another city in itself.
Tunnels, drains, sewers and cable keep the city ticking, but hidden away from sight.
This startling aerial view work on St Enoch subway station, in 1978 offers a rare glimpse into this usually hidden world, and clearly illustrates the awesome scale of the engineering project in hand.
Few parts of the city centre have seen such a series of transformations as area around the St Enoch station.
Once it was a square dominated by a huge railway station and an equally grand hotel.
More recently it became a huge shopping mall, boasting Europe's largest glass roof, and only a few years ago, enjoyed another big revamp.
