With primitive cameras, Arthur's favoured houndstooth checked jackets would strobe under the studio lights, making viewers' eyes boggle.
Mind you, in this still, from the 1960s, the studio curtains more than give Arthur a run in the dodgy style stakes.
Dodgier still, and not something you would now see in a television show, is the ashtray on the desk.
That said, the show did break new ground. In 1984, Sally McNair joined the team to become the first female TV sports journalist in Scotland.
But after the BBC won a five-year deal to show SPL highlights, the show aired for the last time in May 2008.
