YOUNGER readers will barely recognise Glasgow's Queen Street Station in this 1960s photo.
Before they built the building linking on to George Square's Millennium Hotel, the mighty vault of the station's arched roof opened directly onto the top of Queen Street. The door, centre left, is where's today's ticket office is, with the exit doors leading to Morrison Street and the travelators to Buchanan Street Subway Station.
It's strange too to see again the old linked arrowheads of the British Rail insignia. As much as some commuters celebrated BR's passing, at least back then you could buy a season ticket without taking out a second mortgage. The less said about their sandwiches, the better.
Now, must dash, we've got a train to catch...
