RADIO Scotland DJ Paul Young looked slightly deflated when he was presented with a set of waterwings in 1966.
Back then, rather than a BBC station, Radio Scotland was a pirate operator, broadcasting pop music from a rusting old lightship moored in the North Sea.
Launched in 1965, Paul shared his disc-spinning duties with some other well kent names, among them Richard Park, Stuart Henry and Jack McLaughlin - later the 'Laird of Coocaddens' on the STV ceilidh show Thingummyjig!
Paul, now better know for his fishing programmes, began as an actor, playing the young Bill Travers in the 1955 film Geordie, and even interviewed the Beatles for STV when they played Glasgow in 1964. He later starred in Still Game as 'Shug the Lug'.
