DO they not have pigeons in America?
These two camera-toting US sailors seemed fascinated by the 'doos' when they came ashore in George Square in 1957.
With the Clyde now almost completely quiet, we forget how common a sight sailors were in the city during the river's golden years.
These guys, in their peacoats, bell-bottoms and caps, were enjoying a run ashore in Glasgow from a visiting US Navy warship. And just like foreign sailors in every port, they were looking for fun.
Quite what they made of Glasgow's gallus girls, our local cuisine and the city's then restrictive licensing laws are anyone's guess.
Maybe the George Square pigeons were the closest they came to meeting some local birds.
