IT'S the time when everyone from the oldest soldier proudly wearing his medals to the very youngest pay tribute to those who gave their lives in war.

Today's picture is a poignant scene of a young boy laying a wreath at the Cenotaph in Glasgow at the Armistice Day Ceremony 1948, while his mother proudly looks on.

With the Second World war still a very recent memory, many at the ceremony will have had all too vivid memories of the sacrifices made by millions of brave men and women.
